Library Settles with Sculptor The long-running saga behind the
abortive effort to place a $250,000 abstract metal sculpture at the entrance of
the new Columbus Public Library, GA, has ended with the Muscogee County Library
Board agreeing to pay Albert Paley $35,000 for his troubles (see News, LJ 9/1/05,
p. 20). The Ledger-Enquirer reported that funds for the payment will come from
anonymous donors rather than public coffers. The donors? According to the report,
they will be library board or foundation members who want to move on from a mistake.
Had the case gone to court, attorney fees could have cost more. |
